Cristina Zani
Cristina’s work, inspired by Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, explores urban landscapes, their geometries, and unique narratives. Her collection My Seoul reflects the interplay between South Korea’s historic and modern architecture, drawing from her personal experiences in its cities. She approaches jewellery design as if composing a story—much like Marco Polo in Invisible Cities, she distills elements from the urban landscape to create visual representations that subtly evoke the city.
The juxtaposition of materials, shapes, and colours mirrors Seoul’s contrasts—its sleek, sombre skyscrapers intertwined with vibrant wooden temples and elaborately painted palaces. Like these structures, her pieces embody the passage of time, revealing the gradual transformation of layers and colours. Though simple in form, they hold deep stories and complexities, capturing the essence of a city in flux.
